implement group blogs and calendars
Groups is one of the most interesting features of a corporate social service (imho). Unfortunately, groups in cubetree lack several features : blogs and calendars.
Do you plan to implement this anytime soon ?

Hello everyone. We're going to dive into this but would love to get a little more sense of the real-world use cases. What are the groups for? What type of items do you want to put on the calendar?

have a look at the newest version of doodle. That is the direction to go: http://doodle.com/blog/english/2010/06/24/biggest-step-forward-in-the-development-of-doodle/
All kind of calendars integrated.

Group blogs would be great, being able to assign tasks to the groups as well.
Also a company and group wide calendar so you could see holidays/vacations by whole company or by a department/group
Karen Beaman
I agree with all of the above. You should be able to assign Tasks to Groups and then be able to see them on a Group Calendar and a simple Gantt Chart. From the calendar, you should be able to click on the Task and drill down into it to see the details and update it.

Tasks could also be added to this so that tasks could be determined by the group "Someone needs to go do research on XYZ" and then someone in the group could either assign it to someone else, or take responsibility themselves.

I would like to see a company-wide calendar where everybody can post (and see) events - things like company-wide conf. calls, training events, webinars dates, etc.

It would be a great place to collaborate on projects. I have just submitted a Simple Project Management request (http://cubetree.uservoice.com/pages/13349-general/suggestions/298641-simple-project-management) that would be a perfect addition to the group. Blog for status updates on the particular group project and add the task and milestone due dates to the group calendar.

I assigned a due date to an action item, but can;t see the due date anywhere - maybe a calendar can show the due dates of action items (tasks).

Seeing groups also as company projects, therefore (google) project calendar could be connected

The calendar would serve as a place to schedule group activities (conference calls, WebEx's, group chats, or events). But items should be able to be created both inside and outside cubetree (i.e. add the group's email address to the invitation list in Outlook and have it accept the meeting request).
Also, events in the calendar must be exportable to Outlook, Apple Calendar, or Google Calendar so that members can add appointments and meetings to their personal diary.

Events should also be commentable and referenceable so that an event's notes, files, etc. can be linked into a wiki or a blog entry.
Which brings me to blogs (I'm going to delve into implementation here, sorry...).
A personal blog could just be an expanded wall comment with a title, tags and a category of "blog". Then it would be just like a regular comment post, but longer. And people could comment on it the same way they do other items.
Do this for the main site and groups and you'd get blog support for each entity.
Blog items should be referenceable in wiki posts (and vice versa) as well. Events should be able to be linked to blog entries too.

Hi,
taking my company as an example : each business unit would have its own blog, sales person would use it to announce new won projects, administrative team would communicate around administrative issue, support team can communicate around internal services downtime issues (this could also fit in the group calendar), etc.
We also have some hobby related groups, eg. photographers. It would be nice for them to have a common blog where they can showcase their works :)
regards.
